TUGUEGARAO CITY, Feb. 10 (PNA)-- The University of St. Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) has successfully maintained its standing as the number 1 school offering nursing course among universities and colleges in Region 2. Based on the 2009 board exams, USLT posted 97.3 percent of passing rate, followed by St. Paul University with 96.77 percent, St. Mary's University-84.96, Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines-69.48 percent, Cagayan Colleges Tugeuagarao-59.22 percent, University of La Salette-28.42 percent, Florencio L. Vargas College-26 percent and Lyceum of Aparri posted 22.64 percent rating. Dr. Laila Valencia, USLT-vice president for Academics, said out of 37 graduates in 2009, only one did not make in the examinations. Because of this, USLT again landed as the topnotcher in the region and no. 2 nationwide in category B. Valencia explained that category B are school who have less than 100 number of examinees while category A have more than 100 examinees. Last year, USLT was in the limelight for having 100 percent of passing rate and having two passers who made it in the top 10. She said, "History repeats itself, only that we have one casualty this year and we don't have lucky passer who made it in top 10." Valencia said that the reason why they maintained their standing is the preparations they made to their graduates before they took the exams. The examinees have undergone reviews within their campus. Other factor is the serious implementation of the university's policies with regards to the quality instruction to their students. Valencia further said that they are expecting for more students to enroll in the university and they are ready to cater for them but they will maintain their standard in accepting enrollees to maintain quality of education to their graduates.(PNA)
