Chesil Beach, the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site stretching 18 miles along the south coast of Dorset, England from the 'Isle' of Portland in the east to Lyme Regis in the west. Fishermen familiar with the beach claim to be able to tell their location from pebble size alone. This picture was taken at Chesil Cove on Portland, where the pebbles are at their largest.

Sunset on Saturday 5th May, the fishing boats have been hauled ashore using motor winches on the Esplanade, the cables are visible on the pebbles. In the distance on the beach a night time fishing contest has just begun. Disappointed anglers can raise a glass to 'the one that got away' at the Cove Inn on the Esplanade.

Wow, have just heard that this pic will probably appear in the 24 hours of Flickr book - I am soooo chuffed!!!
